What's up with Fossil Energy? Why are we getting all excited about it?
Well, as we all know Fossil fuels are the life blood of the World’s economy. The stark reality is with the exploding consumption of oil, gas and coal which are the Fossil fuels of today, in a few decades from now (say about 60 years) all these resources will be exhausted. The life blood of the World will stop flowing. How prepared are we for this horrifying reality looming ahead?
This rapid exploitation of our natural resources begs a question. Would we rob our kids’ piggy banks? If this shocks us, let us reflect that this is exactly what we are doing with regard to our natural resources, which by right belongs to our children and their children to enjoy.
Burning of Fossil Fuels leads to Carbon emission, production of Green House Gases which results in pollution and global warming leading to destruction of environment.
The United Nations Frame Work on Change in Climatic conditions and the resultant Kyoto protocol has obligated the World Community to reduce Carbon emission and has said those who reduce carbon emissions would be rewarded by Certificates for Carbon Emission Reduction which can be traded in money markets.
The need of the hour is alternative clean green energy. Nature has provided these in the form of solar energy, biomass, hydro, nuclear and wind.
