The P 250 / 29 has a 29.6 metre diameter rotor.
This is most suited for withstanding stress of heavy winds , as the longer the rotor blade, the more structurally weak it would be, resulting in cracks due to shear and stress.
The rotor blades are the most delicate parts of the machine and also the most exposed and vulnerable part of the turbine.
The tower is of galvanized mild steel , ensuring greater resistance to rust and metal fatigue.
Due to the optimum 50 meter hub height there is no danger of the tower breaking up and toppling over in high winds and squalls, as could happen in taller towers.
Imported cushioning pads are provided at the base of the generator assembly inside the nacelle so as to minimize vibration and consequent damage to the driving shaft, gearbox etc. |
